Why I'm Going to Learn Lao
It's been a week and a half since the end of the the Learning Esperanto in Six Weeks Challenge, and I've been thinking what's next. I had a lot of choices to pick from. I could continue studying Esperanto, I could go back to studying German, or I could pick a new language to study.
So, how do you pick which language to learn? Here's why I picked Lao:

Six weeks of learning Esperanto is over today. Last night I filmed my video presentation, uploaded it to YouTube, and in a few minutes I’ll email the contest organizer the link.
It has been fun, for the most part. Not only did I learn some Esperanto, but I learned a few things about how to learn a language.
Here's a few things I could have done better the last six weeks (and my video at the end) :

Oh boy, one week left in the competition.
That gives me one week to come up with a presentation idea, prepare for it, and film it, and upload it to YouTube.
Since I've last written, I finished the Ana Pana lessons on lernu.net. This has been one of the most helpful things for me so far....
Learning Esperanto in Six Weeks - Day Twenty
I'm getting almost to the halfway point in the Learn Esperanto in Six Weeks Challenge. I'm making lots of progress, I think.
My most successful attempt at learning a language quickly was when I learned Italian. The secret was immersion. It was easy, because I spent six weeks in intense study with others trying to learn Italian, and then went to Italy, where almost everyone speaks Italian.
But immersion is a little harder for Esperanto. I have to communicate with my coworkers, my customers, my family, and friends in English. In addition, I don't know anyone who speaks Esperanto.

I love YouTube. Sometimes I waste too much time on YouTube, but it can be useful as well. Want to learn how to change oil on your car? Plenty of videos to show you how. Want to learn how to repair drywall. Plenty of videos for that, too.
